Individual Counseling

The MU Counseling Center offers individual therapy to provide students with an opportunity to explore personal concerns one-to –one with a therapist. Sessions are usually weekly and last 50 minutes. Session times will be personally scheduled with your therapist. Therapy length is tailored to your needs within a brief therapy model. While your assessment counselor will ask about many areas of your life, the focus of therapy will be on working with you toward your specific goals.

Couples counseling may be available. This format can help partners address relationship concerns together. Typical issues include family, communication, conflict, finances, and sex. Couples are eligible for couples counseling when one or both are currently enrolled at MU.

If individual or couples counseling at the MU Counseling Center is recommended, our staff will contact you as soon as possible to schedule an appointment with one of our staff counselors. This may or may not be the person you met with during the initial assessment. There is no additional cost for counseling beyond Student Fees included in your tuition.
