Programming & Workshops
Through programs and workshops, the Counseling Center provides consultation to the University community regarding organizational, mental health, assessment, or student life concerns.
If your group has a need for a specific program, contact the Center to make arrangements for a group presentation or workshop. Two weeks notice is required on requests for presentations.
Mental health problems affect each of us. You can take action to RESPOND effectively.
About 1 in 5 of us will experience a diagnosable mental illness this year. All of us experience emotional pain or distress at times in our lives. Most of us want to help yet often feel uncertain about what to do or say. RESPOND: Partnering for Campus Mental Health training will empower you to offer effective support to a student or colleague. The 8 hour course provides a basic overview of symptoms often associated with mental health problems and offers an action plan to help you RESPOND effectively. The course will address campus policies such as FERPA as well as mental health resources.
Simply being present can change a life.
RESPOND is offered once per semester for students. Students groups are welcome to contact Christy Hutton at email@example.com to explore the option of hosting additional RESPOND trainings for groups of 20-45 students. MU Counseling Center provides this training at no cost to students. Room fees and refreshments are the responsibility of the hosting organization. Fall registration for our open RESPOND course will open September.
Faculty and Staff training (including graduate assistants employed by the university)
Trainings are scheduled 4-5 times per year. For current training dates or to register visit http://respond.missouri.edu. Additional trainings will be added if needed to meet campus demand. Training for faculty and staff is offered at no cost.
MU Counseling Center is able to offer RESPOND at no cost due to the generous support of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies.
